Postdoc or Research Associate [Toronto]

babak – Posted on May 12, 2017 at 2:58 pm –

We have an
opening for a computer vision (and machine learning) research
associate or post-doctoral fellow to work on applications in
health monitoring. You will join a leading multi-disciplinary
research team centred at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute,
part of the University Health Network and affiliated with the
University of Toronto. Toronto Rehab is the largest rehabilitation
hospital in Canada and is the number one rehabilitation research
center in the world.

Multi-disciplinary work experience is a plus, but this could also
be an ideal position for a hands-on recent graduate who wants to
apply her/his knowledge to solve practical problems in healthcare.
The successful candidate is expected to have hands on experience
related to *applying* computer vision / video analysis / machine
learning techniques in research.

In your application, please specify if you have expertise in
either of the following:
– face detection, active appearance models, deep neural networks
for face detection, tracking, or facial expression analysis, the
Menpo project,
– human pose tracking (using CNNs), or
– physiological monitoring.

Excellent programming and system integration capacities are
expected (Python, Matlab, C++). Experience with open source
libraries is strongly desired. In particular, having a good
command of OpenCV (in Python) will be a strong plus. Experience
with Theano and/or TensorFlow is also a plus. Open source
contributions (an active github account) will improve your chances
of getting and interview.

For local applicants (Canadian citizen or permanent resident) this
can be either a postdoc or a Research Associate position.
International applicants can apply for a postdoc position. The
position will be a one-year contract with a competitive salary.
The contract may be renewed after the initial year, based on
available funding and performance.

There is no official closing date and applications will be
reviewed as they are received. Submit your application to Dr.
Babak Taati (Babak.Taati@uhn.ca). Please include [PDF 2017] in the
subject line. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
