Post-doctoral Researcher in Computer Vision

We are seeking a post-doctoral researcher to collaborate with Prof. Esa Rahtu (http://esa.rahtu.fi) at the Department of Signal Processing at Tampere University of Technology in Finland.

We are a growing research group working broadly in the field of computer vision. We are pursuing research problems in geometric computer vision (including topics such as visual SLAM, visual-inertial odometry, and 3D scene reconstruction), in semantic computer vision (including topics such as image based localization, object detection and recognition, and deep learning), and robot vision (including topics such as human robot interaction).

The post-doctoral researcher will participate in developing deep learning systems for computer vision problems. Possible research areas (not limited to) include: 1) developing an universal representation model that is able to address multiple visual recognition tasks simultaneously, 2) developing deep learning models able to learn from several information sources to understand natural 3D visual environments similar to those encountered by humans, and 3) deep learning based image generation and editing approaches. The specific research topics will be chosen together with the applicant to match their personal interests.

An ideal candidate should possess (or be near completion of) a relevant PhD/DPhil in computer vision or machine learning, together with a solid mathematical background, good programming skills and a strong academic publication record. The starting date is negotiable.

The starting salary is roughly 3498,53 EUR per month or more, depending on the experience of the applicant. In addition to the salary, the contract includes occupational health benefits, and Finland has a comprehensive social security system.
