OpenNI organization announced and natural interaction software released

PrimeSense, Willow Garage, and Side-Kick Games announced the establishment of the OpenNI organization and open-source framework. The focus of OpenNI is to enable the creation of “Natural Interaction” applications which utilize vision and audio sensors using a device-independent API.
PrimeSense is also making available its OpenNI-compliant NITE middleware, which includes real-time user segmentation and pose tracking using 3D sensor input.
